DETROIT — The Arab American and Chaldean Council (ACC) will host its 28th Annual Civic and Humanitarian Awards Gala at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center at 6 p.m. Sept. 8. Every year the non-profit human services organization sets the stage for a unique and prestigious event to honor extraordinary individuals who are visionaries in their respectful areas of work. This year’s 2007 honorees are: HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, Dubai; State Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop; Speaker of the House Andy Dillon; Graham W.J. Beal, Director, Detroit Institute of Arts; Matthew P. Cullen, General Manager, Economic Development and Enterprise Services, General Motors Corporation; Dr. Hashim Al-Tawil, Professor of Art History, Henry Ford Community College; Abdul Haidous, Mayor of Wayne, Michigan; and Abdul-Karim Bader & Ensemble.

Brenda Schneider, first vice president and director of business and development services, Comerica Bank and Conrad Schwartz, director of asset management and world wide real estate, General Motors Corporation will emcee the evening’s program.
ACC is proud to celebrate as it continues to make a difference by providing services to the Middle Eastern and mainstream communities in Southeast Michigan. In the past, ACC has hosted President and CEO of the Chrysler Group, Dieter Zetsche; Prince Hamzah and Princess Noor of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; and Michael Brennan, President of the United Way of Southeastern Michigan.
