The Arab American News urges its readers to vote for Hussein Berry for the Dearborn Board of Education on Tuesday, November 6, 2007. With the loss of incumbent Mary Lane, who was a good friend to this community, it is more important than ever that we electe another friend to the Board.
On the sale of the Dearborn Towers in Clearwater, Florida, we urge our community to vote yes. The money that would be spent on maintenance of this apartment complex is better spent on a greater proportion of the community. Only 40 or so Dearborn residents currently utilize this benefit residence out of a city of 100,000. It is time to get rid of the Dearborn Towers. On the new Dearborn Charter, we recommend that you vote YES. The city is in a very different position now than it was the last time the Charter was updated. It is time to amend the Charter to reflect the changing times and challenges facing us. In this low-turnout election, Arab Americans can turn out in force and make up a large percentage of the vote. This gives us the power to direct things our way. Let’s get out the vote on Tuesday, November 6 and show that we care and we can help direct the future of our city!
