Detroit — Detroit Police are still searching for a man who opened fire in a laundromat on Detroit’s west side Sunday, killing one man and wounding another.
The suspect entered the business about 7:30 p.m., forced open a door to an office, and started shooting at Hassan Chaaban, 47, owner of the laundromat on the 18000 block of West Warren Avenue.

Chaaban was wounded and is now in stable condition, but his friend, Khaled Abdullah Saleh, 43, who was visiting the location, was shot and killed.
Police have said the suspect escaped in a black Ford Taurus driven by another person.
A surveillance camera in the laundromat caught images of the suspect that were shown on television news broadcasts.
Police have not offered any new information, but family members of the murdered victim have said that Saleh himself may have been carrying a firearm when he was killed.
Abdullah was a mechanic who owned a Detroit auto shop.
He left a wife and five children, including one with special needs.
A special memorial service is planned in honor of Saleh on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. at the Islamic Center of America, 19500 Ford Road in Dearborn.
The Michigan Chapter of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee released a statement Thursday calling on the Detroit Police Department to pursue an aggressive investigation.
The statement also urged the community to attend the memorial to show its support to the Saleh family, and to “demand an end to violence in our communities and a full and complete investigation of this murder that will bring those responsible to justice.”
