Bernard Grenier, president of Personnel Outaouais, has recently returned from Dubai, and his firm is recruiting personnel to work in the United Arab Emirates. The Outaouais is the region of Quebec just across the river from Ottawa. He visited Dubai along with representatives from some 15 other Quebec head-hunting firms, under the aegis of the Canadian-Lebanese Chamber of Commerce. Syrian-born Quebec cabinet minister Sam Hamad led the delegation. Because of rapid growth, the UAE is looking for personnel in a number of fields: in the financial sector, civil engineering, biology, construction, education, health and media. While the preference is for people who speak Arabic, qualified professionals speaking English and French will be considered even without a knowledge of the local tongue. Most contracts are for a year and often include transportation and family relocation.
