Mohammed Elmasry, president of the Canadian Islamic Congress, has attacked the Conservative minority government for refusing to meet representatives of his group. He said that they wanted to communicate with the government of Stephen Harper “on Afghanistan, on the Middle East, on U.S. intervention in Lebanon, the threat of the U.S. on Iran,” but there was no willingness to meet, he said. At this point, Elmasry is looking forward to by-elections and a general election, with the hope that the government will be replaced.
