DEARBORN — Students walk down Moross Street near McDonald Elementary School carrying brooms as part of the school’s Clean-Up Parade on May 22nd.
The parade was part of Dearborn’s annual Clean-Up Parades and was one of 17 participating sites from the days of May 5th-22nd. The parades are conducted as a means of teaching local youth about the importance of cleaning up and maintaining the cleanliness of their own yards and neighborhoods.
This year was the first that residents in the vicintiy of the parade routes were asked to spruce up their own yards, whereas city-funded crews did so in years past.
Students were asked to take note of properties that were not well-kept along the parade routes for discussion purposes at the end of the day’s events.
