DEARBORN — If you dream of owning a classic car, the Rotary Club of Dearborn is giving the public an opportunity to purchase tickets at $10 each to win a ’67 Mustang. Raffle tickets are now being sold to raise funds for a variety of Dearborn Rotary projects that benefit the local community and others in need worldwide.
“As home to the headquarters of Ford Motor Company, it’s appropriate our club offer a classic customized Mustang,” said Nancy Siwik, Dearborn Rotary president.
The car will be on display at various locations throughout Dearborn in the weeks ahead and during the “Rock’n Rotary Classic Cruise” scheduled for June 14. The drawing will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2008, during one of the club’s regularly scheduled Thursday luncheon meetings.
The ’67 red Mustang with black interior includes a 289 V8 engine with four barrel carburetor, custom intake, chrome oil pan and headers, tachometer and gauges, automatic transmission, manual drum brakes and AM/FM radio. Winner of the September drawing can elect to receive $10,000 cash instead of the car.
Raffle tickets will be sold and the ’67 Mustang scheduled for display in the parking lot of Westborn Market on May 24 and 25 and at Dearborn City Hall on Memorial Day, May 26. During the day of the cruise on June 14, the car will be at Ford Field from 9 a.m. to noon, at Ford World Headquarters from noon to 5 p.m. and at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center during the Rotary-hosted “50’s Sock Hop,” to be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
