DEARBORN — When it comes to different kinds of weddings at Greenfield Manor, Nina Bazzy has seen them all. Bazzy, the director of operations for the banquet hall on Greenfield Road in Dearborn, helps plan a different one for just about every day of the week.
“We see so many different types of weddings here,” said Bazzy. “I think I’ve done a wedding from every single country in the Middle East.”
Summer weddings in particular are popular, so much so that many families have gone against tradition and scheduled weekday ceremonies in order to squeeze onto Greenfield Manor’s packed schedule. Most summer events require at least 8-12 months advance notice.
It all makes sense once customers walk through the doors of the facility’s Greek façade and gaze at the exquisitely-decorated hall. With massive, glowing chandeliers, huge oil paintings, and an elegant red-and-gold color scheme, Greenfield Manor has the “wow” factor that can help make a wedding or other special event even more memorable.
“This building has a unique style,” said Bazzy. “It feels like you’re walking into a whole other city. We want customers to feel like they’re royalty here.”
While Greenfield Manor is a higher-end facility, that doesn’t mean that parents who hold their kids’ weddings there will be stuck paying them off until their grandkids graduate from college. Prices range from moderate to expensive depending on what types of food, drink, and dessert choices customers make.
“We can fit a lot of different budgets but we do like to maintain a certain level of prestige here,” said Bazzy.
Bazzy’s father Meslem came to Dearborn in 1962 from Lebanon and bought Greenfield Manor in August 2006 with the goal of maximizing its potential and turning it into a special place worthy of the big events it hosted. They had no experience in the catering or banquet hall businesses, but through hard work and a strong family bond, they managed to increase business by an average of over 200% per month with a capacity few other places can match. The main banquet area holds between 100-1,200 guests, with an optional soundproof wall in the middle for holding two different events at once.
The challenges of keeping up with such high demand are difficult at times, but the job is still rewarding for Nina Bazzy.
“A lot of times we don’t get out of here until 3 a.m.,” she said. “It’s a lot of chaos, but at the same time it’s fun and it’s a rush because you’re going to leave a lasting impression with someone that they’re always going to remember.”
Greenfield Manor also holds concerts from time to time and has welcomed big Middle Eastern stars Fadel Shaker, Fares Karama, and Melham Zein in the past. The Manor encourages customers to book events as early as possible, and July is a good time to book for Winter and Spring. A discount on food of 20% is currently being offered for January, February, and March. For details or to book an event, call 313.581.1140.
