Reporters and curious citizens camped out in front of the Manoogian Mansion waiting for Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to leave for his final address to the city in the hours following his resignation Thursday. Some citizens were supporters while others, like Joseph Salmassi (right), 21, and Mohamed Kaddoura, 18, both Arab Americans from Dearborn, were glad to see the mayor finally step down. “Don’t get me wrong, he did some good for Detroit and he made it nicer,” said Kaddoura. “But he stole more than he brought into the city.” Salmassi agreed and said that Kilpatrick was simply too corrupt to continue on as Detroit mayor.
