A resolution honoring the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr was adopted in the Michigan House of Representatives on Sept. 18.
Representatives sent out copies of the resolution last week.
Rep. Gino Polidori of Dearborn led the resolution honoring the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr. |
The resolution includes a statement that gives a very small estimate of the number of Muslims in the US, reading “Whereas, Muslims, who make up nearly 1.5 million people worldwide and nearly 300,000 in the United States, have observed the holy month of Ramadan…” Most estimates put the number American Muslims in the millions, with many as high as 6-7 million.
But the Reps. express in the resolution “warmest wishes to Muslims in Michigan and beyond on the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, and together we wish our Muslim friends and neighbors Eid Mubarak!”
