Dearborn — The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) has established a new Wellness Center at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Dearborn.
The DMC Wellness Center will offer a variety of health and wellness programs, physical therapy, athletic training and injury prevention programs. Wellness Programs include basic health screenings, nutrition counseling, healthy cooking demonstrations and senior fitness classes. Certified athletic trainers from the DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan will provide physical therapy for sports injuries, aquatic therapy, performing arts therapy and oncology therapy.

“This partnership with the DMC gives our residents convenient access to outstanding wellness services from a highly respected health system,” said Mayor O’Reilly. “It is another way we are promoting active lifestyles for all ages and abilities, and it’s a natural fit for the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.”
Said Duggan, “DMC is the official health care provider to the Shock, Pistons, Red Wings and Tigers, and we are excited to bring that same level of service to the Dearborn community. Residents and guests will have access to a talented team of health care professionals who will be available for individual health and fitness needs.”
The Ford Community and Performing Arts Center is located at 15801 Michigan Avenue. The community is invited to a free Open House Thursday, November 13th from 5 – 9 p.m. Activities include free knee assessments by DMC Sports Medicine specialists, mini massages, blood pressure screenings and flexibility screenings. Laura Ramus, Head Athletic Trainer for the 2008 WNBA Detroit Shock will present “Building Great Athletes,” a free seminar on injury prevention for junior high and high school athletes
