Audience members comment during taping of a Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation program shot at the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn on Monday. The show was hosted by well-known LBC news anchor May Chidiac, who was visiting Detroit for Lebanese Independence Day celebrations. Local Lebanese Americans took part in a heated discussion on the November election and its impact on Lebanese politics. Supporters of the Phalange and Lebanese Forces political parties, who generally supported John McCain in the U.S. election, and supporters of the Lebanese opposition, were intensely at odds with each other. Many supporters of the Future Movement also supported Barack Obama. An opinion poll conducted days before the election suggested that an overwhelming majority of Arab American voters in general, including Lebanese Americans, supported Obama. The program will air on LBC on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. and again at 9 p.m.
