DEARBORN — A screening of the episode three of the documentary film series “Chronicles of a Refugee” is set for Wednesday, Dec.17, 6:30 p.m. at the Arab American National Museum, 13624 Michigan Avenue.
“Chronicles of a Refugee” is a six-part documentary series created by Perla Issa, Aseel Mansour and Adam Shapiro looking at the global Palestinian refugee experience over the last 60 years. Filmed in over 15 countries with more than 250 interviews of Palestinian refugees who have lived in over 25 countries, the series aims to provoke debate concerning possible strategies and asks: “What makes the most sense for a strategy to achieve Palestinian rights as part of a vibrant and viable Palestinian national movement?”
Episode three, “Homeland Without ID,” looks at official discrimination against Palestinians in both the Western and Arab contexts and details how host governments treat Palestinians from a security-based perspective, sacrificing their human rights in the process.
Tickets to the AANM screening are $15 and may be reserved in advance by calling 586.808.8461 or purchased at the door. Presented by American Federation of Ramallah, Palestine, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee and Palestine Office – Michigan. A portion of the proceeds will go to humanitarian assistance for Palestinian refugees.
