Yemeni group to hold scholarship event
The Yemeni American Association is scheduled to hold its 12th annual scholarship awards banquet on July 19, 6 p.m. at Byblos Banquet Hall, 7258 Chase Road in Dearborn.
Every year the group awards deserving students who have exhibited academic excellence.
The winning scholarship recipients are Fayzah Yahya, Sarah Soofi, Lila Ali, Wafa Almuraisi, Mohamed Abdulla, Mariam Saleh, Rasha Almalaiki, Yasmin Saleh and Jacquline Saeed, of Wayne State University, Manal Aljobael, Samia Alarashi, Hatam Saeed, of Ahmed Sharif of Henry Ford Community College, Mahmood Nasir of the University of Detroit Mercy and Daifullah Said of the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

Local soccer clubs excel, camps approaching
DEARBORN — The Michigan Sporting AC Eagles soccer club has jumped out to an impressive 6-0 start on the season and is now the only undefeated team in the Michigan Premier Soccer League’s Open Division. The team’s next home game will be Sunday, July 26 at 5 pm at Fordson High School. Help for homeowners in foreclosure
SOUTHFIELD — Homeowners struggling to make ends meet can educate themselves on the foreclosure process at a free seminar on July 23.
The Michigan Association of Realtors and the Realtor Associations in Southeast Michigan will host a foreclosure and short sale forum at the Embassy Suites in Southfield, 28100 Franklin Road from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Officials from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHD) will be at the event responding to the questions and concerns of troubled home owners. MSHD will provide information on available foreclosure programs and other resources in Michigan.
