DEARBORN HEIGHTS – City officials are looking to appoint a new City Council member to replace Bob Brown, who resigned on July 14.
Resumes and letters of interest are being accepted at City Hall through Aug. 26.
Candidates will have a chance to introduce themselves at a Sept. 1 meeting and on Sept. 8 the council is expected to consider appointing a new member.
The appointee is to serve until voters decide on a replacement in November 2010.
Because of the timing of Brown’s resignation, his seat cannot be on the ballot until next year.
Brown cited personal matters and his workload as executive director of the Senior Alliance in his resignation letter.
He first took office in 1986, resigned in 1996 after being elected to the state House, and was elected again to the council in 2007.
