DEARBORN — When Souheir Mokadam first came to America from Lebanon six years ago, she had no plans to open a shop of her own despite her experience in fashion design and the fact that her father Mustapha owned the popular El-Mokadam clothing company.

“All of these ladies would look at my jewelry and ask me where I got this one, where I got that one. They all liked my stuff so then I decided I would open my own place,” Mokadam said.
Now, Mokadam shows off her jewelry and accessories in her privately owned and personally-designed boutique right next to the popular Mango’s Café.
From rings and earrings to necklaces and everything in between, Vice Versa offers a large selection of distinct Arabic-style pieces Mokadam swears customers won’t find anywhere else. They are all hand-designed and picked out by her and her sister Farah, who still resides in Lebanon. Mokadam takes special trips back to Lebanon and often comes home with huge boxes of jewelry that she proudly displays in her store for her customers to browse.
The jewelry can be worn casually or for special occasions, as Souheir Mokadam specializes in lending her fashion expertise to clients looking for the perfect match to a wedding dress or other outfit.
Besides jewelry, Vice Versa also offers scarves, belts, purses, headbands, and other similar items, as well as the mini-spa portion of the boutique, which is designed to keep customers looking and feeling beautiful.
Mokadam’s assistant Dr. Shadi Haddad is available through appointments for procedures such as botox and dermal fillers, both of which have been popular and take 20 minutes or less to complete.
Mokadam handles the makeup and permanent makeup duties using the experience she gained at the French-inspired fashion college Collage Artistique de la Mode Moderne in Lebanon. Various massage packages are also available for customers who want to feel as good as they look, as are waxing services.
All of this and more is available in an intimate, friendly environment featuring stylish antique furniture, chairs, and a chandelier that seems like it belongs in a grand dining room.
“When people come to the store, I want them to feel cozy and warm, like they’re at home,” Mokadam said.
Vice Versa is located at 14931 W. Warren in Dearborn.
