“Many of the Arab American businesswomen I talk to tell me they’re relieved to be in the same room with like minds and that they don’t have to feel guilty about anything,” said Jumana Judeh, who founded the AAWBC.
“They can network with each other across various industries; they tell me it’s about time we had an organization like this because it’s way overdue.”
This year’s AAWBC breakfast will feature Nancy Schlichting as keynote speaker. Schlichting is the President and CEO of Henry Ford Health Systems and her speech is expected to focus on current issues surrounding health coverage for small businesses.
Four $1,000 scholarships will also be awarded to college or college-bound students at the breakfast, and Ms. Ronia Kruse, President and CEO of Optech, a technology consulting and business solutions firm based out of Detroit, will be honored as Business Woman of the Year by the AAWBC.
The AAWBC will also announce its new officers at the event as elections were recently held.
Judeh said that feedback about past breakfasts has been extremely positive and she is excited to continue the group’s positive momentum.
“The event exceeds our expectations every year,” she said. “I totally believe this is the woman’s time. Women exceed men in college graduation rate and in making purchasing decisions in the household, so having an organization designed to understand their needs and aspirations is critical.”
