The Arab American Political Action Committee on Wednesday elected a new president and shook up other leadership positions in the group that vets, endorses and supports candidates in local and national elections.

Bazzi, 30, said she hopes to provide a fresh voice as the group’s president, being a young leader and a woman, but also expects to follow precedents set by past leaders.
“I think I can provide a different perspective… but I’m here to continue doing what my predecessors have done,” she said.
She said a main focus for her will be recruitment of new members.
“I would hope that my being elected president would encourage more to join, especially more women.”

“She’s a very credible person with an excellent reputation in the community,” he said. “With AAPAC, she’s shown dedication and true belief in the cause.”
The group’s former secretary, attorney Nabih Ayad, was elected Vice President of external affairs. Activist Tarek Baydoun became vice president of internal affairs. Accountant Hussein Tarraf was elected Secretary.
