FBI agents on Feb. 11 searched an east Dearborn home on the 5700 block of Appoline Street. Several home security surveillance cameras are installed on the outside of the home. |
Neighbors said they watched officials wearing FBI jackets enter the house and remove several boxes of unknown contents.
Detroit FBI spokesperson Sandra Berchtold confirmed the search took place and said it was conducted on a federal search warrant, but said she could not provide any details because the affidavit in the case was sealed.
I man who identified himself as Ahmad Fayad and said he is a resident of the home, said outside the house on Tuesday that agents were searching for unlicensed merchandise.
He claimed the FBI was acting on what he called a rumor that a business owned by his brother, whom he didn’t identify, was storing unlicensed merchandise at the home.
“I’m confident that all the merchandise was licensed,” Fayad said. “There are more urgent things for them to investigate than purses and hats.”
Fayad said malicious gossip within the community prompted the investigation, which he claimed was groundless.
