DEARBORN — City Councilman George Darany announced this week he will run for state representative.

He will try to replace Rep. Gino Polidori, D-Dearborn, who will have exhausted term limits and will not be on the ballot.
Polidori currently represents the 15th District, which includes all of Dearborn except for a few precincts in the northeast portion of the city.

Darany will face any other Democratic candidates that arise in an Aug. 3 primary. The winner will face a Republican candidate on Nov. 2.

“I’m running because Dearborn needs a voice in Lansing that understands all of its needs,” said Darany, 53, “and my background and experience will help me be that voice. Business, education, government and community concerns must all be addressed.”

Darany is a realtor and owned Classic Trolley Co. for 20 years. He’s served on city council for three years, coming in third place in a field of 14 in his most recent re-election campaign last November.
