ANN ARBOR — The Ann Arbor Palestine Film Festival is set to open on Wednesday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. featuring “Pomegranates and Myrrh,” with director Najwa Najjar on hand at the Michigan Theater, 603 East Liberty St.
“Pomegranates and Myrrh” was an official selection of the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and won Audience Award for Best Arab Film at the 2009 Doha Tribeca Film Festival.
“The Film Festival seeks to amplify the voice of the Palestinian people as a nation and a diaspora by bringing films to the fore that would not otherwise be seen,” festival organizers said.
Other films to be shown include:
—”Amreeka,” March 11, 7:30 p.m. at the Michigan Theater
—”Thorns and Silk,” “Make a Wish” and “Neighbors,” March 12, beginning 7:30 p.m. at the Michigan Union Ballroom, 530 S. State St.
—”Diploma,” “Welcome to Hebron” and “Gaza’s Winter,” March 13 beginning 2 p.m. at U-M Law School, Hutchins Hall Room 100, 625 South State St.
—”Ajami,” an Oscar nominated film, 7 p.m. March 13 at the U-M Museum of Art, 525 S. State St.
