Rashad Hussain, a 31-year-old special envoy of the U.S. to the Organization of the Islamic Conference, a group of about 57 Muslim countries, will visit the Arab American National Museum on Sunday, August 1 to discuss U.S. foreign policy at a Ramadan iftar hosted by U.S. Rep. John Conyers.
The conference acts as an international public voice for the countries it represents.
Hussain was appointed in early 2010 by Obama and is responsible for reaching out to the Muslim world. He is of Indian descent and was in India recently for a nine-day trip to reach out to Muslims according to various Indian newspapers.
Obama has lauded Hussain for being a hafiz, a word which means a person who has memorized the entire Qu’ran.
