LAS VEGAS — After an evening gown and swimsuit competition, 83 contestants in the Miss Universe 2010 pageant were narrowed down to 15 this week and Miss U.S.A Rima Fakih didn’t make the cut. The Miss Universe 2010 contest took place at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas on Monday, August 23. The contest’s 15 finalists competed in a question-and-answer segment. Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrette was crowned Miss Universe 2010 based on her answer in the segment and performances in the evening gown and swimsuit contests. During the national costume part of the pageant Fakih, 24, took the stage dressed in a gold body suit with wings representing the United States’ patriotic American eagle symbol. The Dearborn native plans on continuing her reign as Miss U.S.A. and attending law school afterward.
