DEARBORN — The Dearborn Public Library is teaming up with the Wayne County Fight Mortgage Foreclosure Program to offer free workshops Thursdays in September and October for citizens in need of financial counseling in order to keep their houses.
The foreclosure prevention workshops will be on Sept. 9, Sept. 23, Oct. 7 and Oct. 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Henry Ford Centennial Library Mezzanine Conference Room. Residents will be offered counseling with a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development counselor working through the Wayne County Foreclosure Prevention program. The focus of the program is on those in the Dearborn area who are faced with mortgage delinquency or potential foreclosures. Certified, knowledgeable counselors will help attendees understand the options available, how they can assist in working with lenders, how the Making Home Affordable plan may relate to each specific situation and how Michigan’s 90-day mediation law can give homeowners time to work with their lenders. All the counselors are certified and knowledgeable in assisting home owners through this process.
