UAW Region 1A has announced its plan to boycott Andiamo restaurants beginning Sep. 16. The restaurant chain is accused of violating the rights of workers. UAW Region 1A represents 150,000 retired and working residents of Southeast Michigan. According to the National Labor Relations Board, the eatery has illegally retaliated against Andiamo employees at its Dearborn location who had overtime and other restaurant violations. For 10 months a group of Andiamo restaurant workers have rallied outside the Andiamo Dearborn location fighting for fair worker rights. The demonstrators are members of the Restaurant Opportunities Center of Michigan and have an ongoing lawsuit against the restaurant.  They claim tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid wage and discrimination violations were made. Region 1-A has called on its membership, political figures,  firms and other entities it has bargaining relationships with to boycott the restaurant until a fair agreement is reached among workers.
