President Obama’s approval rating among Americans has declined to 39 percent, the lowest in his presidency, according to a poll conducted by Zogby International. The President’s support from Democrats continues to slide. Obama is only one point ahead of Sarah Palin and trails Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush and Newt Gingrich.
The percentage of potential voters who believe the U.S. has been on the wrong track since Obama took office is 69 percent, the highest recorded in his presidency. His approval among Republicans is 6 percent and has stayed at 39 percent among independents. On Nov. 15 the president’s job approval rating among Democrats was 78 percent and dropped to 72 percent from Nov. 19-22 of this year.
Obama is supported by women more than men. His approval among women is 44 percent and 33 percent among men. According to pollster John Zogby, Obama has been losing the support of independents for more than a year. Zogby said Obama is failing to please more than one fourth of his own party’s voters, and needs to focus on getting the approval of the young and minorities which are demographics that need more motivation to vote than others. This interactive poll consisted of 2,032 potential voters.
