Henry Ford Community College (HFCC), which currently boasts a 5-1 record after finishing fifth in the nation among community colleges last year, has welcomed former Detroit Piston and Michigan Wolverines basketball national champion Terry Mills as an assistant coach. Mills is originally from Romulus High School, where he won the Michigan Mr. Basketball Award in 1986.
Head coach Abe Mashhour and the Hawks will play host to Cuyahoga C.C. December 4 at 3 p.m.
“Terry has been a blessing for the team,” Mashhour said. “He relates well to the guys. He has so much to offer, and yet he’s quite humble,” he added.
Mashhour, who is in his 12th season as HFCC head coach, also serves as HFCC’s interim athletic director and is the principal of River Oaks Elementary in Dearborn.
The Hawks have gained popularity on campus, drawing between 600-1,000 people per home game.
Students with an HFCC ID get in free. Adult admission is $3. For more information about the team game schedule, visit //www.hfcc.edu/campus_life/athletics/mens_basketball.asp.
