DETROIT— Hassan Abdallah, 39, of Dearborn was shot and killed on Thursday, December 2 around 11 p.m. while sitting in his car waiting to buy a TV from a friend of a former co-worker on the city’s west side.

“They believe that it was a set-up for his money,” said reporter Adnan Beydoun of the Arabic section of The Arab American News, who spoke with the wife and family after the incident. According to the family, Abdallah received a call while at home from a co-worker who said he knew of a television that was for sale.

“His wife called him several times, telling him she was worried, and he too was uncomfortable, and told her he would just buy the TV,” said Beydoun. Abdallah met the co-worker at a mechanics shop and then drove to a location on Baylis Street in the area of Livernois and Puritan in Detroit.

Details of what happened next during the incident remain hazy.

“His wife called several times, but the phone was dead,” Baydoun said. “The family went to the police station and to a hospital looking for Abdallah, but the family couldn’t find him. It wasn’t until the police came to their door the next morning that they realized he was dead.”

According to police, Abdallah had been shot in his head while still in his car, presumably waiting for the TV. His money was missing.

Abdallah is survived by four children, two boys and two girls. Police have no leads in the case, and would appreciate any help from those with information.
