SOUTHFIELD – During a press conference at CAIR-Michigan
headquarters, Flint couple Ahmad Alouh and his wife Wisam addressed the local
media regarding their daughter Sara, who is trapped in Syria’s current state of
unrest.
Sara Alouh, 11, had visited her grandparents in the town of
Dar’a to study Arabic. The
grandparents’ home was reportedly shelled and destroyed by Syrian tank fire
recently during a wave of deadly attacks in the city but the girl is okay
according to a satellite phone conversation.
U.S. Rep. Hansen Clarke (D-Detroit) plans to ask the
European Union to put pressure on Syrian officials to locate and bring home
Sara Alouh and others who are stuck in the country along with asking about
extended sanctions and freezing of accounts against President Bashar al-Assad’s
regime.
