DETROIT – According to WWJ radio the total closure of the
Southfield Freeway from I-96 to Ford Road was delayed in order to give crews
needed materials to set new bridge beams at the Joy Road overpass. The full
closure was expected to begin on June 24 of southbound M-39 (Southfield). Both
northbound and southbound M-39 will reportedly be closed by next weekend. All
traffic will be detoured to Telegraph Road (US-24). The work is part of an $80
million investment to fix three miles of pavement, repair 24 overpasses along
with walls and more. For more info, visist www.michigan.ogv/m39.
