NASHVILLE, TN – The Middle Tennessee State University School of Journalism is hosting a conference and workshop through a grant from the McCormick Foundation titled “Covering Islam in the Bible Belt” from Aug. 21-23.
Participation will be limited to a maximum of 24 attendees, whose travel, lodging and tuition will be fully covered. Among those attending will be veteran journalists and experts in Islamic history and culture for the event, which will happen at the First Amendment Center.
The focus will be on covering the topic of Islam, especially in the South. The McCormick Foundation sponsors up to eight specialized reporting institutes annually to provide in-depth training for journalists.
