DETROIT - Faouzi Mohamad Ayoub, age 44, who also goes by the name Fawzi Ayoub, allegedly tried to use a fake name and U.S. passport to get into Israel in 2000 to carry out a bombing plot, according to reports.
The indictment was handed down in August 2009 according to the Detroit Free Press and the passport was under the name Frank Mariano Boschi. It was released on Friday of last week after the man’s name and photo was added to the FBI’s most-wanted terrorist list, which includes 31 other names.
Ayoub was born in Lebanon, and had previously lived in Dearborn and is a Canadian citizen who had also resided in Toronto with family members.
He had reportedly been a part of a prisoner swap along with 435 others in an Israeli-Hizbullah exchange in 2004 according to a Toronto Star report. Israel said he had taken part in attacks on civilians but Ayoub denied the charges.
