ROCHESTER — The Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine is set to open next week. It will be the first medical school to open in Michigan since 1964 according to a WWJ report.
According to founding dean Robert Folberg, 61 percent of doctors who do a residency will end up working within 100 miles of that hospital. More than 3,000 students applied to the school and 50 were accepted. The school is estimated to pump $1 billion into the economy once it is up and running according to the report. Applicants were selected based on a unique “holistic review” process.
