DEARBORN – A new train station near the city’s west side downtown area was approved this week for a total monetary award of $28.2 million according to The Federal Railroad Administration.
The funding was originally awarded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and had been the subject of questions as to whether it would finally be approved or not due to federal budget issues.
The new station will help to serve a route from Ann Arbor to Detroit and future high-speed rail transit lines as well, while also continuing connections to the Pontiac-Chicago Amtrak route.
