NEW YORK — The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore at the northwest part of Michigan’s lower peninsula was voted the “Most Beautiful Place in America” by ABC’s Good Morning America TV program. Other top competitors included Newport, R.I. Cape Cod, Mass., Aspen, Colo., Sedona, Ariz. and more. 

Sleeping Bear Dunes is a large natural area carved by glaciers that includes large sand dunes, beaches and more on Lake Michigan near Traverse City.
