DEARBORN — The city along with Dearborn Public Schools will kick off a year-long effort against bullying on Sept. 14 with an event at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center on Michigan Avenue.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. and include various attractions for kids including the Detroit Pistons’ and Detroit Lions’ mascots, Hooper and Roary, respectively, along with face-painting and more.
A city-wide poster contest will also be spotlighted with posters being put up across town after the winner is selected to encourage a safe, respectful, bully-free atmosphere.
Officials have also expressed concern over cyber-bullying through social media and other online outlets, which will be a focus of the program as well.
Schools in the district will host a total of three events this year and continue to learn about tactics to help stop bullying in their areas.
