Lathrup Village — On Friday, September 30th at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center, 6 p.m., the Arab American and Chaldean Council (ACC) will host its 32nd Annual Civic and Humanitarian Awards Gala Education: The Road to Success.

President of GM North America Mark L. Reuss is the evening’s Keynote Speaker. Mr. Reuss is a longtime advocate of education in the Detroit. The program will be emceed by radio host Paul W. Smith of News/Talk 760 WJR and event honors individuals that through their dedication to educational endeavors have joined ACC in empowering the growing multi-ethnic community of Metropolitan Detroit. The 2011 honorees are:
Pamela Alexander, Community Development & Business Operations Manager, Ford Motor Company Fund; Mike Fezzey, President Eastern Michigan Region, Huntington Bank; Ambassador Yousif Ghafari, Founder and Chairman, Ghafari Associates; Dr. Marsha Pando, Superintendent, Lamphere Schools; Congressman Gary Peters, U.S. House of Representatives; Senator Randy Richardville, Majority Leader, Michigan State Senate; Roy Roberts, Emergency Manager, Detroit Public Schools.
This year’s gala is expected to attract more than 1,000 guests, including leaders representing national and state policy-making, members of the judiciary, leaders of the corporate world and health care industries, and educational institutions and foundations.
