DEARBORN — The city of Dearborn is one of the best places to buy meat, produce, flowers and more in metro Detroit, but the goal of brothers Dr. Fouad Turfah and Kamal Turfah for their newest business is to combine all that and more into a brand new shopping experience for local families.

After more than a year of hard work, the Turfah brothers and their staff are currently putting the finishing touches on the brand new Dearborn Fresh Supermarket, a one-stop shop for customers looking for a variety of food options both domestic and imported, all under the same roof along with many of the other perks that supermarkets offer.
Dearborn Fresh Supermarket is being built on the site of a long-time Kroger supermarket that the brothers bought in August 2010. The grand design is testament to the continued revitalization of various Dearborn neighborhoods through the strength of Arab American businesspeople.
After about ten years in the grocery business with the well known Chase Cash & Carry bulk store in Dearborn, co-owner Kamal Turfah said he is excited about unveiling the new supermarket to families in the area looking for a complete shopping experience.
The market, which will likely open toward the end of this month and will hold its grand opening on Oct. 3, will feature a wide variety of products from American favorites to special goods imported from the Middle East, including Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq and other countries; as well as the Hispanic community which also has roots in the area extending mainly into southwest Detroit.
Also inside the supermarket will be a Tim Horton’s coffee shop, a bakery, the Oasis Cafe for shoppers who would like meals on the spot, a flower shop, and a pharmacy. In addition, Kamal Turfah said that the store will place a special emphasis on organic produce and other products as well to complete the shopping experience and to add a healthier component to what will be one of the biggest and most complete supermarkets in the area.
Kamal Turfah also said that keeping the produce fresh will also be a high priority for the new store. All products in the store are halal including the meat.
The spacious interior and parking lot will bring a unique feel to the area that many families have been hoping to see for years.
“It’s all going to be very convenient for the people, from the parking to the four entrances we have,” Kamal Turfah said.
With so much variety to offer and a wealth of experience behind the Turfah brothers as they get ready to hold their flagship new business’ grand opening, Dearborn Fresh Supermarket could have the makings of a popular new town center for the local community.
“Our vision for the place is to make it a one-stop shopping experience for the entire family,” he said “It’s going to be almost 60,000 square feet of a special shopping experience.”
