DETROIT — A movement based on the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City has sprung up in Detroit through fliers and social networking, with hundreds if not thousands expected to descend upon the city this weekend. Dozens of other peaceful protests have sprung up across the country in protest of Wall Street policies against the middle and lower class, big bank bailouts, corporate greed and influence in politics, and more. The movement was expected to begin on Oct. 14 at the Spirit of Detroit statue before heading to Grand Circus Park on Woodward Ave. in the city.
