DEARBORN — Byblos Banquets will host the HYPE Athletics Telethon on Sunday, Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to midnight. Byblos is located at 7258 Chase Road in Dearborn.
Donations from the event will be used towards the completion of the organization’s new Wayne County-HYPE Recreation Center on Warren Avenue in Dearborn Heights.
The telethon has two components. The first will consist of supporters calling in and making a donation. The second is to have supporters come to Byblos and make calls to their network using their personal cell phones and to request donations on behalf of H.Y.P.E. in amounts of $10, $25, $50, $100 or more. HYPE needs to raise $450,000. Donations can be made multiple ways. Donors can visit www.hypeathletics.org and make a donation via PayPal using a credit card anytime between now and Dec. 4th. There is also a Text-2-Give campaign where one can text “HYPE” to 85944 using their cell phone to make a one-time $10 donation (reply yes when prompted by the service provider). The donation will be charged to their cell phone bill. All donations are tax deductible, regardless of amount or method.
HYPE offers various athletic programs, after-school and in- school social services to youth and their families free of charge including school tutoring, mentoring, counseling, substance abuse prevention, education, leadership and entrepreneurial training and more.
The new center will be about 104,000 square feet with conference rooms, training facilities, a cafe and much more. The Zaman International charity will also be housed within the complex, which has already held the groundbreaking ceremony.
