DETROIT — Turkia Mullin is suing for the right to resume her job as chief executive of Detroit Metro Airport according to her attorney.
Mullin filed a lawsuit on Thursday that charged that the Wayne County Aiport Authority’s board meeting was illegal, during which they voted to dump her. She wants a circuit judge to grant her back pay and void the results of the meeting.
Mullin received a $200,000 severance payment from Wayne County, where she served as head of economic development, prior to leaving for the board.
She lost the airport board’s vote 5-2 after part of her contract was cited that allows her to be fired for “dishonesty, theft, willful misconduct, breach of fiduciary duty or unethical business conduct which is injurious to the authority,” but the board did not state what specific violation led to her firing.
