DEARBORN — Henry Ford Community College (HFCC) recently named Edsel B. Ford II as Director Emeritus of the HFCC Foundation during a special ceremony held at the College on Dec. 8.
Ford, a director on the Foundation Board since 1999, is the first to receive this honor in the Foundation’s 30-year history.

The Director Emeritus designation is reserved for members of the HFCC Foundation Board who have served at least four terms; have exhibited distinguished service and exceptional leadership and whose involvement has resulted in significant charitable support for the Foundation and its initiatives.
In addition to his 12 years of service on the HFCC Foundation Board, Ford assumed a leading role in the College’s “Building Futures Campaign,” a multi-year fundraising initiative. He also helped establish the HFCC Henry Ford II Honors Scholarship Program, which is one of the nation’s leading community college honors curricula, enrolling approximately 75 students.
“I am honored to be the first Director Emeritus of the Foundation,” Ford commented. “I admire the students at Henry Ford Community College, both their work ethic and dedication to their studies. I know that many HFCC students are the first in their families to go to college and Cynthia and I appreciate being able to help. I look forward to remaining active and supportive of Henry Ford Community College students in the years ahead.”
He is the son of longtime Ford Motor Company president, CEO, and board chairman Henry Ford II and Anne McDonnell Ford. He and his wife, Cynthia have four children. He is also a retired vice president of Ford and former president and COO of the Ford Motor Credit Company, who has been involved in several charitable causes.
