NOVI — About 50 Syrian American activists joined at Twelve Oaks Mall in Troy on Sunday, Jan. 7 for a flash mob-style demonstration for freedom for Syrians from the country’s current regime.
Demonstrators against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad held signs showing victims of the violence as well as messages against Assad. Others laid on the ground, posing as victims.
Since unrest began in the country, demonstrators both against Assad and for the president and reforms to save his regime have staged rallies in various locations in metro Detroit.
In April, anti-Assad demonstrators held a rally in West Bloomfield while those in favor of reforms to save the Assad regime rallied at the Lebanese American Heritage Club in Dearborn in June.
