NEW YORK — The National Child Labor Committee (NCLC) announced that Hussein Berry, the co-founder and president of the Dearborn Youth Football Association and also a member of the Dearborn School Board, will be honored for his decade-long work as a mentor and advocate in his community on behalf of area youth.
Berry is one of 16 national winners of Lewis Hine Awards for Service to Children and Youth from across the country and has been invited to the 26th annual ceremony in New York City on Jan. 30.
The award is named for the acclaimed NCLC photographer who documented early-20th century exploitation of children and honors those who, either as professionals or volunteers, give of themselves and go the extra mile for the well-being of young people. Berry was selected by a panel of judges among hundreds of nominated leaders.
