TROY — Mothers Against Drunk Driving of Michigan invite the media and the public to attend a free presentation designed to inform people of their legal rights after being involved in an auto accident. It will address Michigan’s no-fault laws; what type of insurance coverage is best to purchase to protect victims of drunk driving; knowing your rights; and knowing free services provided to victims and survivors by MADD.
The forum will take place Monday, Jan. 30, beginning 6 p.m. at MADD Michigan, 625 East Big Beaver, Troy, MI 48083 in Suite 105.
The following individuals will be speaking at the press conference: MADD Michigan Senior Victim Advocate Betsy Harris; MADD Michigan Senior Victim Advocate Stephanie Hurst; MADD Michigan Senior Development Officer Beth Sowulewski, and Daniel Buckfire of Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C.
Nationally in 2010 nearly 11,000 people were killed and more than 350,000 people were injured in a drunk driving crash.
In Michigan in 2010, over 200 people were killed and over 5,000 were injured in crashes where the drunk driver had a BAC of .08 or higher. This presentation aims to help Michigan drivers protect themselves and their families on roads and highways.
