DEARBORN - On Thursday Jan. 19 members of the Occupy Detroit movement and Arab community met at the Lebanese American Heritage Club to discuss plans for a protest expected to take place Jan. 25 starting 4:30 p.m. at Grand Circus Park in downtown Detroit.
Demonstrators will March to the McNamara Federal Building and protest U.S. military aid to Egypt’s government. Members from the Arab community included representatives from the Arab Civil Rights League, Arab American Political Action Committee, The Arab American News, and the Arab Student Union of Wayne State University and University of Michigan-Dearborn.
The protest is titled, Occupy Detroit March and Rally in solidarity with the Egyptian Revolution. Members of Occupy Detroit reached out to the Arab Americans in hopes of having a more effective protest. For more information contact eightbitriot@gmail.com.
