DEARBORN HEIGHTS/ALLEN PARK — Four cars were stolen in a five day span in Allen Park last week, with the common denominator being keys left in the ignition as residents prepared for their days and warmed them up.
A Ford Flex was also stolen from a house just north of Ford Road and east of Outer Drive while a Ford Escape was stolen from another home on Ann Arbor Trail east of Inkster.
Yet another theft happened on Jan. 16 in the city that led to a chase in southwest Detroit where two thieves abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
A day earlier, two thieves were also caught in Dearborn Heights and have been accused of stealing a van from Allen Park before driving to Dearborn Heights and stealing another. Police are warning residents to be vigilant and to avoid leaving keys in the ignition as they get ready inside for their days.
