The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant and HOME programs has awarded Macomb County with $2.7 million to build new housing and revitalize neighborhoods. The money will be used by communities within the county that aren’t eligible for such grants independently.
Sterling Heights received $625,000, Warren was given close to $1 million and Roseville and Clinton Township got $500,000 each. The township and cities got the funds based on poverty rates in the areas, quality of housing stock and growth in nearby communities.
