BIRMINGHAM — The new Lebanese American Council of Detroit organization held its kickoff event at the Birmingham Community House on Sunday, Feb. 26, establishing its constitution and bylaws while bringing together supporters.
The organization’s goal is to foster, develop and improve relationships among and between the Lebanese diaspora in the United States and Lebanon, while connecting different organizations in Michigan and improving relationships between the U.S. and Lebanon as well according to Vice President of PR Rami Haddad.
The organization is working on gaining non-profit status and will launch a website, www.lacdetroit.org, soon. The LACD plans to have an annual convention featuring workshops and high achievers of Lebanese descent as guest speakers, and also hopes to establish its own scholarship fund at some point while updating its members on the happenings in Lebanon including election information and other important developments.
