HIGHLAND PARK – A January 18 fatal shooting of 59-year-old Citgo gas station clerk Hassan Hussein of Dearborn has resulted in the arrests of two men, police said this past weekend.
Hussein was killed after he left the cover of protective glass behind the register to examine and clean a spilled bottle of juice that a man dropped in order to lure him out.
The suspects being charged with first-degree murder and other charges are Brian M. Evans, 33 of Highland Park and Norman Witherspoon, 27 of Madison Heights, who could end up facing life in prison if convicted.
As Hussein used a remote switch to attempt to close the door, one of the suspects allegedly held it open to prevent it from being locked prior to a struggle and subsequent shooting.
Both men were arraigned Monday in Highland Park and both have criminal records.
